This hatred does not exist in a vacuum. It is fed, every day, by an information campaign unlike anything we’ve seen since the Cold War. Hamas and its allies have mastered the dark art of manipulating digital imagery, fabricating statistics, and weaponising words and emotion. They show the world what war looks like and demand that we call it genocide."

Without about 30 years of the Academia-NGO-Journalism Industrial Complex paving the way for animus towards Israel's existence, Hamas's disinformation campaign wouldn't be anywhere near as effective.

My biggest concern is the universities and what they’re teaching. Israel and the ME has always been a complex set of issues but students have been taught to view it as an overly simplistic oppressor/oppressed scenario. Beyond the absurd simplicity of this view, the lack of any critical thinking or interest in deeper motivations on the part of students is what frightens me the most. A population who complacently swallows one dictated view of the world wholesale and without challenge or thought is a scary place to be. The Jew hatred will always be there but as you say, many are just useful idiots and we can never underestimate the power of human stupidity.
